Alexander-Arnold made his competitive first-team debut last month and seems to be first-choice cover at right-back.
Young Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is hoping to reach the level of his more senior teammate Nathaniel Clyne as the teenager continues to develop, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Alexander-Arnold made his competitive debut for the senior team in an EFL Cup tie against Tottenham last month. One rash challenge aside he seemed to impress plenty of those in attendance, including some former professionals.

He feels that Clyne is the best right-back around, and is quoted in the Liverpool Echo saying: “I believe he (Clyne) is the best right-back in the country. But right now I’m just focused on trying to work hard every day and get on his level rather than thinking about where I am in terms of backup, third or fourth-choice right back.
“I’m working every day to try and get to his level and try to get that number one right back spot.”
The 18-year-old is probably doing himself a disservice by suggesting he is that low down in the pecking order, as many would view him as the alternative to Clyne should anything happen to the Reds’ first choice right-back.

Connor Randall has often been used a left-back in the under-23s this season having played on the right side last term, while Jon Flanagan is currently out on loan, so Alexander-Arnold could get more opportunities at right-back.
One match where he might be given another opportunity to impress could be the Reds’ EFL Cup quarter-final against Leeds United towards the end of the month.
The comments from Alexander-Arnold suggest he is a focused player and has already set himself some goals in order to enhance his career.
There seems to be an element of excitement surrounding him and many are hoping he can be the next local boy to properly break through into the Liverpool first-team.
