Stoke City would like to make their loan move for Oussama Assaidi permanent, but the asking price seems to be a stumbling block.
Stoke City chief executive Tony Scholes has suggested the price that Liverpool are demanding for Oussama Assaidi is too high according to the Stoke Sentinel.
Assaidi signed for the Reds in the summer of 2012 for a fee believed to be £2.4 million from Heerenveen but his opportunities were limited in his first season of English football.
The Moroccan spent last season on loan under Mark Hughes at Stoke City with the Potters’ manager keen to make the winger’s loan move permanent, after an impressive season which has seen him score against the likes of Chelsea, Everton and Newcastle United.
Liverpool are willing to sell Assaidi as it looks as though he would struggle to fit into the Liverpool team given the Reds have had a busy transfer window so far this summer.
Scholes is quoted, saying: “As the chairman and the manager have already said, he’s a player we like.
“He did very well last year and settled in. Everything points to it being a good match for both the club and the player.
“But, at the moment, the prices we are being quoted are just wrong.”
There are reports that Liverpool want around £7 million for Assaidi, which would be a steep rise on the fee they paid for him – and his value will have increased on the back of a season he’s had away from Anfield. Given that his performances for Stoke have probably increased his value, it is probably of little wonder that they wouldn’t want to meet that asking price.
