Sunderland look set to lose their manager to the national side.
Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce
Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce could be appointed as the new England boss by Friday, according to a report in The Times.
Allardyce has been interviewed for the job, along with Hull City manager Steve Bruce, while Allardyce has received a glittering reference from former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, while he managed to impress FA chief executive Martin Glenn.

The FA views Allardyce as the least risky candidate and the most experienced having also spoken to Bruce, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe and USA coach Jürgen Klinsmann.
It will represent a blow for the Black Cats who were led to survival by Allardyce, and they will have hoped to have kicked on under his stewardship this season, and consolidated their place in the top flight with a good mid-table finish at the very least.

There is also talk of a release clause in Allardyce’s contract at the Stadium of Light, which the FA look likely to trigger.
At the end of last season as they cemented their place in the top flight there as a lot of optimism surrounding the club. However, no transfer business has been done so far and the manager situation isn’t going to help when it comes to signing players – or even keeping hold of players. It’s understandable their fans will be frustrated if Allardyce were to depart.
