Skrtel looks destined to leave Liverpool this summer.
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has been linked with a move to Serie A side Roma, according to a report in Gazzetta World.
The Slovakian looks set to leave Anfield after an eight and a half year association with the club, with some reports, including one from the Liverpool Echo, last week suggesting he could be in line for a move to Fenerbahce.
Gazzetta’s report suggests that personal terms have been agreed with Roma and he could sign a three-year deal to join the Serie A side.
Skrtel has since tried to put off commenting on his future until after his side’s involvement at Euro 2016 has come to its conclusion.
It seems that he is on his way out of Anfield but things seem up in the air in terms of his destination. Liverpool will be keen to get the price they feel Skrtel is worth, and given there is plenty of interest in him they should feel relatively confident of doing so.
Skrtel has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield with Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and the now departed Kolo Toure all getting picked ahead of him towards the end of last season – so a move for him would be suitable.
The attraction of playing in Serie A – something which has a stronger reputation than the Turkish league where he has also been strongly linked – will be something that could work in Roma’s favour in order to get a potential deal over the line.
