Dahoud has been of interest to Liverpool for some time.

Liverpool are sending scouts to Germany’s under-21 game with Finland tonight to watch Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud, according to a report in German outlet Express.
The Reds’ interest in the central midfielder is well documented with Liverpool having failed with an attempt to bring the player to Anfield this summer, given the Bundesliga side had already sold two of their central midfielders – including Granit Xhaka to Arsenal – and the Liverpool Echo reported last week that the Reds are still interested in signing the player in a future transfer window.
Joe.co.uk have reported that the Reds remain in the box seat to sign the player, so it is of little surprise that scouts from the club are still keeping tabs on him.

Dahoud made 41 appearances for Gladbach last season, although sometimes used as a rotation option as he rarely completed the entire 90 minutes.
This season he has featured in a DFB Pokal first round match for an hour against SV Drochtersen, and played half an hour of the 6-1 win over Young Boys in the second leg of their Champions League play-off. He was an unused substitute during the side’s 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen on the opening day of the Bundesliga campaign.

It appears that Liverpool may be playing the long game when it comes to their attempts to sign the 20-year-old, but are keeping a pretty close eye on him.
Dahoud will not sign a new contract with the club with two years left on his existing deal, and the report in Express suggests he has moved up Liverpool’s shopping list. It will be interesting to see if this lengthy pursuit pays off for the Reds.
