It looks as if Markovic will have to move on if he is to get first-team action this season.

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is considering an approach from Newcastle United, according to a report from Goal.
Markovic has not been part of the match day squad for any of Liverpool’s four fixtures so far this season and appears to be surplus to requirements at Anfield this season.

The report suggests that Markovic is Rafa Benitez’s number one target to bolster Newcastle’s attack in wide areas, with the Magpies said to be prepared to go “above and beyond convince the player to make the switch to St James’ Park.” Whether it is on a season-long loan deal or a permanent move remains to be seen, but a valuation for the latter could be around £16 million.
The Serbian has also been linked with Sporting Lisbon, Schalke and AC Milan but is said to be open to dropping down to the Championship in order to resurrect his career.
After a difficult first season on Merseyside following a move from Benfica in 2014, Markovic spent the 2015/16 campaign on loan at Fenerbache but his time there was hampered by injuries.

Markovic has certainly been a player who has shown ability but there have been many questions about whether he is suited to the English game, and other times he has shown a lack of confidence in front of goal, opting to pass the ball rather than shoot on several occasions.
The lack of European football at Anfield this season makes it harder for Markovic to stake his claim for a place in the Liverpool side, while Newcastle have a very busy season ahead of them and there will be opportunities for him.
