Benitez has plenty of people around to give him advice before he makes certain decisions.
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has denied any notion that he is a control freak, the Chronicle reports, and says he takes into account the opinion of all the heads of departments when moving forward with a decision.
Since Benitez committed his future to the club, he has been in charge of pretty much all of the footballing matters to shape them in his image.
While some have portrayed the Spaniard as something of a control freak, it appears the Newcastle boss is a lot more democratic when it comes to decision making.
He is quoted in the Chronicle, saying: “I think everybody is more or less happy, but at the same time, they can give their opinions. It is not just the head of the departments that I am speaking to – I am asking for opinions all the time.
“Then you take everything on board, and decide which way you want to go.
“If we are winning, doing things properly, and treating people with respect, then things will be going well.”
Clearly this is a project which has many people behind it with Benitez the main driver of change at the club, and proof that he can not do everything alone.
There are people he needs the opinion of in certain areas so he can get the best out of the club, although it does seem to be one built very much in the Spaniard’s image.
The more success that the club has then the less questions will get asked along the way, making the need for promotion back to the Premier League this season all the more important.
The vibe that one gets from this interview is that Benitez trusts the people surrounding him at the moment, which is very important as the club looks to make strides in the right direction to have a solid showing in the medium to longer term.
