Newcastle stretched their winning run with a 6-0 win over QPR at Loftus Road.
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez feels there is still room for improvement following his side’s thumping 6-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road last night, as reported by the Chronicle.
It means the Magpies have won each of their last six games in all competitions – the last five of which have seen clean sheets – and they have moved to within a point of Championship leaders Huddersfield Town.
Benitez is quoted in the Chronicle, saying: “Maybe, it’s not the right thing to say, but we can improve. The team has done well.
“Everybody was pushing and working very hard but as always we made some mistakes.
“You have to make sure you control all of the games in a way that you have chances and they don’t have any.”
It is not often you come away with a comprehensive victory away from home and suggest there were one or two mistakes made. Benitez will always find room for improvement in his side and he is clearly trying to keep his players on their toes and guard against complacency.
Following their opening two games of the season – where they suffered back-to-back defeats to Fulham and Huddersfield Town – Newcastle have conceded just one goal and won every game as they are seemingly going from strength to strength.
Given they are now just a point off the leaders, at this stage of the season they are red hot favourites to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Benitez will not let his players think too far ahead and will still find things to work on to make them even tougher opponents to come across over the course of the season.
