As well as aiming for a return to the top flight, Dummett has his own personal target.

Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has said he is aiming to hit the 100 appearance mark this season while helping the club back to the top flight.
Dummett has made 80 appearances for Newcastle to date and has featured in five of the six Championship games so far this season in his preferred left-back role.
He knows he faces competition in the form of Achraf Lazaar this season but given the amount of games the Magpies will play – and that he has been part of a very solid defensive unit – he seems on course to reach three figures at some point soon.

Dummett told the Chronicle: “There’s been a few (left-backs) come and go but I’m still here now. It’s good for me because it’s the club I supported as a boy and have grown up watching.
“It’s something you always dreams of doing. I am still here with this manager, and if he keeps picking me I’m happy to be here.
“The aim for the season is to get as many games as I can and get promotion.”

Dummett seems to have an excellent attitude and knows that if he is relegated down the pecking order then he will just have to work hard to get back into the side.
It is a massive vote of confidence in Dummett to have featured so prominently so far this season. The summer has seen numerous changes when it comes to first-team players, yet Dummett is one player that features prominently in Rafa Benitez’s plans.
Newcastle have certainly made the start to achieve one of Dummett’s aims this season, as they currently sit second in the league table and will hope to extend their run of good form when they take on Queens Park Rangers this evening.
