Diame scored his first goals for Newcastle United and wants to face old club Hull City in the last eight.

Newcastle United midfielder Mo Diame has told the club’s official website that he would like to face his old club Hull City in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
Diame joined the Magpies from Hull in the summer after he scored the goal in the play-off final win over Sheffield Wednesday to earn the Tigers promotion to the Premier League.

The midfielder managed to get his first two goals for Newcastle in their 6-0 win over Preston North End last night, and Diame seems keen on a reunion with the side he previously played for.
He told the official Newcastle United website: “Every single game we go out to win it, and the team are working well. I hope we are going to play against Hull – I saw they won 2-1 (against Bristol City), so it would be nice if we could have a draw against Hull and play them. That would be nice for me.”

If Newcastle were to draw Diame’s old side then they would probably fancy their chances of making it to the last four of a competition that has opened up somewhat. Tottenham were knocked out by Liverpool last night, while one of the Manchester clubs will also be eliminated with United hosting City later on.
Rafa Benitez seems intent on taking the competition seriously this season, although winning the Championship and guiding the club back to the Premier League in the process is very much his priority.
The EFL Cup has given him an opportunity for other members of what is a big squad to get some minutes under their belts along with those that feature on a more regular basis, showing that his side has plenty of goal-scoring talent.
