Liverpool have impressed at the start of this season.

Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne has told Goal that the current side is the best squad he has ever been part of.
The defender signed for the Reds in the summer of 2015 from Southampton and after a season where he was part of the side that lost out in two cup finals, he has seen several changes in personnel during the summer undertaken by manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds have managed to get off to a strong start to the season as they currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League with 13 points from their opening six games – which has seen them overcome Arsenal, Leicester City and Chelsea in the process – with the only real blot in their copybook so far a defeat to Burnley on the second weekend of the season.

Clyne is very positive about the players at the club, telling Goal: “I’ll just say we have got a good team, we are confident in what we are doing right now. It is a team game at the end of the day. Our game isn’t about individuals.
“It is the best squad I have been involved in. The new players we have got in, everyone has done really well, gelled really well. We have a good team spirit going on and it is like we have been playing together for a long time. Everything seems to be clicking and it is good.
“There’s so much quality around the squad, you look around the dressing room at the players we have got and there is so much ability. We are getting goals from all over the pitch and even (James) Milner is scoring despite playing at left-back! It is a joy to watch Phil Coutinho, (Sadio) Mane, (Daniel) Sturridge and (Adam) Lallana and (Roberto) Firmino, they are all playing well and it is going well.”

Clyne has listed possibly the greatest strength about the Liverpool squad at the moment in the different areas of the field that they can score goals from, but they have plenty of options in the final third.
Plenty of deadwood has been shifted on while Klopp has recruited Loris Karius, Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan from the Bundesliga, while his two big money buys have been Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum. Mane has already become a favourite at Anfield, and Wijnaldum has started every Premier League game so far this season.
One criticism to be made about the Reds so far is they have yet to record a clean sheet in the Premier League so far this season.
It seems the minimum aim for the side this season is to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League but they could well be aiming for more after their strong showing at the start of the season, while silverware is likely to be a target after the heartache of losing two finals last season.
