Manchester City were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Manchester United at Old Trafford this week.

Manchester City’s winless run stretched to six games last night after a 1-0 defeat to their city rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.
A solitary Juan Mata goal in the early stages of the second half was enough to settle the tie to send United through to the last eight and close one avenue for silverware off for Pep Guardiola’s side.
It was a much changed City team that had its mixture of youth and fringe players, as well as some of the more established names.

One of those more established players was Aleksandar Kolarov, who replaced captain Vincent Kompany at half-time at centre-back.
Following Kolorov’s introduction, the City defence did not look as solid and United started to get more opportunities, and it seems Kolorov came in for his fair amount of criticism from City fans on Twitter after a series of displays that have seen him attract the wrong kind of attention from supporters.

Despite many being dissatisfied with the form of Kolarov, the chances are that he will be in contention to start City’s game against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
Here is a sample of what they had to say about his 45-minute display last night:
