Matip missed Sunday’s defeat to Bournemouth but is in line to return when Liverpool host West Ham United on Sunday.
Liverpool defender Joel Matip has returned to training after missing the weekend’s 4-3 defeat to Bournemouth, according to the Daily Mirror.
Matip’s calming presence was missed at the back on Sunday as the Reds surrendered a 3-1 lead with 15 minutes to play, only to leave Dean Court empty handed.

The summer signing from Schalke missed the game because of an ankle injury but his importance to the side can be illustrated in that the Reds have conceded as many goals (nine) from the 11 league games he has played compared to the three he has missed.
The Reds are currently on a training camp in Barcelona with the Mirror reporting they are expected to return to Merseyside after watching Barcelona take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.

Providing there is no reaction between now and the weekend, Matip will be expected to line up alongside Dejan Lovren at the heart of the Reds’ defence for Sunday’s Premier League clash against West Ham United.
It will be something of a relief to everyone, as Matip’s signing has been one of the smartest pieces of business done all summer if the season so far is anything to go by.
Liverpool will hope Matip’s absences are kept to a minimum between now and the end of the season as they will look to get back to winning ways on Sunday, and put the pressure back on their rivals at the top.
The report also says that Sadio Mane trained as normal after picking up a knock in Sunday’s game.
