Matip has featured twice for the Reds since his arrival from Schalke, but has had to wait for his first home game for the Reds.

Liverpool defender Joel Matip is looking forward to making his Anfield bow this weekend when the Reds host Leicester City in the Premier League.
With Liverpool playing their opening games on the road so far this season because of redevelopment work at their home, it means that Matip and the club’s other summer signings have yet to make their bow in front of Liverpool’s home fans.

Matip told the official Liverpool website: “I’ve been waiting the whole pre-season to make my first steps at the stadium.
“I think Liverpool is famous for its stadium, for its atmosphere. It will be a great atmosphere and I’ll be happy when I can play there.”
Matip has made two competitive appearances so far for the Reds following on from his signing from Schalke on a free transfer.
He looked pretty solid in both of his outings against Burton Albion in the EFL Cup and against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League as Jurgen Klopp will look for his side to be a tight defensive unit at home.

Matip will be aiming to make himself something of a favourite at Anfield, and starting with an impressive home debut is just what is needed.
There is certainly going to be a different feel around Anfield this year given it has been expanded, but also with it being the first full season with Klopp in charge. The Reds will hope to start as they mean to go on when they entertain the champions this weekend and get three points on the board.
