Liverpool’s Luis Alberto in action against Oldham’s Korey Smith
Liverpool’s Luis Alberto is attracting interest from Valencia, according to a report in Spanish outlet SuperDeporte.
Alberto is surplus to requirements at Anfield and has had two separate loan spells away from the Reds at Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna.
They suggest a deal of £2.6 million could be struck to allow Alberto to return to La Liga on a permanent basis following his £6.8 million signing from Sevilla in 2013.
The 23-year-old is said to have been monitored by Valencia for several weeks.
Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli looks dejected
One link that has been dismissed is the possibility of Mario Balotelli joining League One side Port Vale, according to the Stoke Sentinel.
Balotelli is not part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans but the Sentinel has picked up on the chairman Norman Smurthwaite saying on Twitter there was no chance of such a move – though the link itself did seem very unlikely to begin with.
One area that Liverpool fans may have hoped to have addressed this summer was the signing of a new left-back, especially after Alberto Moreno’s display against Arsenal on the opening day of the season.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp defended Moreno, telling reporters, as reported by the BBC: “I cannot be interested in criticism from other people.
“It is possible to take another [player on a transfer] but only if it is the guy we want.”
Klopp also mentioned that Adam Lallana’s strike in the weekend’s 4-3 win over Arsenal was the ‘perfect’ goal for him given the options that were available at the end of the move.
He’s quoted by the official Liverpool website, saying: “Gini (Wijnaldum) could make the cross and there were three options to take the ball – Adam was the quickest and finished the situation. That’s a perfect goal, in my opinion.”
