A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Friday morning.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has hinted at the possibility of leaving the club in the summer, saying he will play beyond this season.
The Reds’ skipper is out of contract this summer and has told the Daily Mail, with the ball firmly in Liverpool’s court when it comes to sorting out a new contract for the 34-year-old.
He said: “As it stands at the moment, I’m here until the end of the season and want to make the most of it. I certainly won’t be retiring this summer. I will play beyond this season. We will have to wait and see if that’s at Liverpool or somewhere else. That’s Liverpool’s decision. If they don’t come then I will see what’s out there.”
Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers has said he doesn’t think Liverpool will see Daniel Sturridge in action until after the international break, meaning he will miss the midweek trip to the Bernabeu to take on Real Madrid, and the huge Premier League clash with Chelsea at Anfield.
He’s quoted in the Liverpool Echo saying that is highly unlikely that Sturridge will join up with England as he recovers from a calf problem suffered on the back of a thigh problem.
Youngster Jordan Rossiter has been speaking to the Liverpool Echo about his debut in the third round of the League Cup, where he scored 10 minutes into his debut.
He said: “When it dropped to me I thought ‘You’ve got to hit it, just get it on target’ and thankfully it went in.
“It’s something I’ll always look back on, no matter what happens for the rest of my life.”
