Chelsea, Manchester City, Swansea City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Sunderland players feature.
There are some big matches in the Premier League this weekend, some may even regard a couple of the fixtures as early season six-pointers. So here are a few of the players who may be returning from injury, visiting old friends or could have a big say in this weekend’s games.
Vincent Kompany
City’s captain could return to the side this weekend after injury and could bring some much needed stability to their back four in an area that has been chopped and changed for much of the season so far.
Scott Parker
Parker goes up against one of his old clubs in what some might call an early season relegation six-pointer as Fulham travel to West Ham. The midfield battle could be a scrappy affair, and Fulham will need Parker to come out on top if they want to build the foundations to get a positive result.
Mile Jedinak
Often seen as the talisman in the Crystal Palace side, it will be interesting to see what difference his role and responsibility under new boss Tony Pulis when they travel to Norwich City this weekend.
Wes Brown
Having had his red card rescinded for a challenge on Charlie Adam at the weekend, Brown is free to play for Sunderland against Aston Villa. Can he help keep the likes of Benteke and Co at bay as the Mackems go in search of some much needed points on the road.
Roberto Soldado
Spurs desperately need a result this weekend to get their league campaign on track and their striker could do with getting his name on the scoresheet. The pressure could be cranked up further on the Spaniard with rumours of fans favourite Jermain Defoe heading towards the exit door.
Robin Van Persie
Van Persie missed last week’s draw against Cardiff and the comprehensive victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League in midweek but if Van Persie is fit enough to start against a defence that conceded six last week – he could return from injury and be in amongst the goals.
Fernando Torres
The striker situation at Chelsea is always an interesting one. With Samuel Eto’o picking up an injury, and Torres returning, the Spaniard may get another chance to show the promising form he had just before he picked up an injury himself.
Rickie Lambert
Lambert scored in both games for Southampton last season against Chelsea as the Saints managed to take four points off the Blues. Can he help Southampton bounce back from their defeat last weekend and get on the scoresheet again against Chelsea?
Jon Flanagan
Not many people expected Flanagan to put in such a good display against Everton last week, but it seems very hard to see how he can be dropped after that performance. Can he keep up that performance level against Hull this weekend?
Wilfried Bony
Bony may have had a slow start to life at Swansea but he is finding his feet. He is coming up against a City defence that plays a high line and he may be able to cause some problems with his pace by getting behind the back four.
