Liverpool have found the net on 16 occasions in the league so far this season and their main strikers have yet to score a league goal.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that he does not care who scores the goals, as they have found the net on 16 occasions in the league so far this season.

It has allowed the Reds to take 13 points from their opening six games and has seen them pick up wins against Arsenal, Leicester City, Chelsea and Hull City so far this season.

All of the goals so far have been scored by players that you would not regard as recognised, natural centre-forwards; although both Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi have found the net in the EFL Cup.

Klopp told the official Liverpool website: “It’s a result of our style. We need to have different players in and around the box.

“I don’t care, actually, who scores the goals – if there’s one player who scores 50, I have no problem with this as long as we win and play like we did in the first half (against Hull).”

It is heartening for Klopp to see different areas of the side contributing in front of goal. Given that Roberto Firmino has started in the natural striker’s role for some games this season then he would be expected to find the net.

Liverpool’s recognised forwards have not started firing yet and there seems to be enough players chipping in with goals so far to keep the Reds momentum going; not least in the 5-1 win over Hull.

Even when the front three did not find the net, Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson managed to score the goals required to come away from Stamford Bridge with a victory.

One of the problems last season seemed to be that Liverpool were not getting enough goals from different areas of the team on a consistent basis. So far, they have shown significant improvement on that aspect of their play.
