Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has no concerns about Loris Karius starting this evening’s game against Manchester United at Anfield, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Karius has started the last three games for the Reds with his last outing – a 2-1 win over Swansea City – bringing about a less than convincing performance, with some pondering whether Simon Mignolet should be reinstated to the starting XI.

However, Klopp said there was only really one error made by the 23-year-old towards the end of the game at the Liberty Stadium, and says he has something of a luxury with his current goalkeeping situation.

He is quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “We have analysed that. It was only the last situation really.

“Whichever goalkeeper I choose unfortunately he will not be totally free of mistakes and that’s the way it is. That’s the game and that’s no problem.

“But it’s about giving the boys the best feeling and the biggest support to perform at their best and that’s what we do.”

It looks as though Karius will continue his run in the side, and if he delivers the Reds’ first clean sheet in the Premier League this season it would be a massive boost for the entire defence as well as significantly enhancing their chances of recording another big win at the start of this campaign.

Mignolet will have to wait a little while yet to stake his claim to return to the starting XI for a lengthy period. That may come along when the Reds take on Tottenham in the EFL Cup later this month or around the turn of the year when fixtures could get that little more congested.
