Two high profile Premier League clubs were said to be interested in the Southampton captain.
Southampton captain Jose Fonte has said he has not heard about any new contract offer, according to the Daily Echo.
Manchester United and Arsenal were strongly linked with interest back in August in the Portugal international, by the Daily Mirror among others, and there were suggestions the Saints would offer him a new deal in order to ward off that interest and keep the player at St Mary’s.
Fonte is quoted in the Daily Echo, saying: “There’s nothing on the table, so I’m waiting. I’ll see what happens.
“I’m just focusing on performing above all and we’ll see what happens. There were some talks but there hasn’t been for a while. Like I said, I’m focusing on my job and we’ll see what happens in the future.
“But I’m not concerned about that, just concerned about performing and doing well for my club.”
The report also suggests that Fonte was in line for a pay rise to bring him line with the higher earners at the club, while his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2018.
It may be something of a worry for things to go a little quieter on the contract front, although it is not unusual to have a lull in talks before a deal is eventually signed.
But Fonte has shown he has been an integral part of the side at the start of the season having featured in six out of the Saints’ seven games so far this term.
In their past few games Southampton have looked very solid at the back with the 32-year-old an integral part of that, and if he were not there he would be very difficult to replace.
