John Terry ruled out for 10 days including Chelsea's clash with Liverpool

Chelsea captain John Terry is ruled out for approximately 10 days because of a foot injury he sustained in the latter stages of the 2-2 draw with Swansea City on Sunday, according to the club’s official website.

Terry sustained the injury as the game was drawing to its conclusion following a collision with Swans midfielder Leroy Fer.

It means that Terry will miss the visit of Liverpool to Stamford Bridge on Friday night, bringing about the possibility of David Luiz making his second debut for the club.

There were initial fears that Terry would be out for longer after he left the Liberty Stadium on crutches, but scans appear to have revealed strained ligaments in the 35-year-old’s foot.

It looks unlikely that he will be available for the Blues’ EFL Cup third round tie with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium next week, but he could be available for their trip to Arsenal in the Premier League the following Saturday evening.

It is clear that Terry is an integral part of Antonio Conte’s plans this season having started every Premier League game at the heart of Chelsea’s defence and he will be in someway relieved that Terry’s absence is not a long one; although he will hope it is not sorely felt in the one or two fixtures he misses.
