Riise became a pretty popular figure during his time with Liverpool.

Former Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise has retired from football after a playing career spanning 20 years – which saw him pick up 110 caps for Norway.
Riise is perhaps best known for his time in England with Liverpool after he signed for the Reds from Monaco for £4 million in 2001. His first goal for the Reds was on the ground of his old club when he found the net in the 3-2 UEFA Super Cup win over Bayern Munich.
It was the first of 31 goals from 348 appearances for Liverpool over a seven year career – with goals in his debut season against Everton and Manchester United endearing him to the Reds faithful, and were some of the memorable ones of his Reds career.
He played both on the left side of midfield and at left-back with pile drivers something of a trademark, though one of his other memorable goals was with his right foot in the Nou Camp against Barcelona in 2007 as the Reds dumped out the then European Champions en route to their second final in three years.
Riise played his role in the comeback in Istanbul as Liverpool recorded their fifth European Cup triumph as his cross was headed home by Steven Gerrard to start the fightback against AC Milan, while in 2006 he scored three times during their run to lift the FA Cup – including the opening goal in the semi-final against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
His major trophy haul saw him win the League Cup in 2003 along with the success in the Champions League and FA Cup.
His time with the club would come to an end in 2008 as he departed for Roma and arrived back in the Premier League in 2011 with Fulham. He subsequently had spells with APOEL Nicosia and Delhi Dynamos.
