Liverpool have had a very busy summer in terms of transfers.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge feels that his old club have had a good summer transfer window, saying he feels the squad has improved and has raised funds by moving other players on.

There is still time left this summer for some more business to be done with the transfer window shutting tomorrow night, although it is likely to be players leaving rather than coming in, judging by the numerous transfer reports that are circulating.

Joe Allen, Christian Benteke, Jordon Ibe and Brad Smith have been among those who have already moved on this summer.

Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column: “I like the look of all the new signings. Buying Sadio Mane and effectively covering that outlay by selling Christian Benteke was great business. There have been no complaints from Jurgen Klopp about the backing he’s had.

“He’s not the kind of manager to panic buy like we have done in the past. He’s always said he will only go back into the market if the right player is available.”

Some will suggest that there are one or two areas where Liverpool could still try to add reinforcements. Some look at the left-back area with James Milner currently occupying the role ahead of Alberto Moreno, and some have thought that more presence in central midfield is needed.

But as Aldridge has pointed out, manager Jurgen Klopp does not feel the need to try to buy players for the sake of just it this summer, and seems to only want to wait for the right player to become available and would like to try to improve the performances of his players with work on the training ground.

Mane seems to have become an instant hit with Liverpool fans, while Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Georginio Wijnaldum have all featured for the Reds so far this term. Goalkeeper Loris Karius could return to the side at the end of September.
