Newcastle started their season off with back-to-back defeats but have since managed to string together three consecutive wins in all competitions.

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden believes the players are starting to get used to each other after what was a very busy summer at the club.
Rafa Benitez has signed nine players so far this summer, including Hayden, with many others leaving the club as the Spaniard has been trying to put together a squad that can return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The players were probably getting to know each other a little in their first couple of matches, but Hayden thinks the side is now starting to find its feet and develop understandings in several areas.
After losing their first two games of the season, Newcastle have managed to put together three consecutive wins in all competitions, and face promotion rivals Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow evening at St James’ Park.
Hayden is quoted in the Chronicle, saying: “The lads are getting used to each other now and the connections are all over the pitch now, especially at Bristol. It was a team effort and everybody dug in deep.
“If we can keep doing that and concentrate on the technical aspect of our game we shouldn’t have a problem against Brighton.”

Starting the season with back-to-back defeats was not what the Magpies wanted but they have shown signs they are getting to grips with things. Both Fulham and Huddersfield have started the Championship season pretty well, while Newcastle have managed to bounce back with wins and positive performances against Reading, Bristol City and in the EFL Cup against Cheltenham Town.
The task now is for them to hold on to that momentum. Given the amount of players that have come and gone there was always going to be a challenge in getting the side to gel as quickly as possible.
