Liverpool take on West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.
Liverpool legend Ian Rush has warned his old side that West Ham United’s recent poor run of form could make them dangerous in Sunday’s clash at Anfield, the official Liverpool website reports.
The Reds will look to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Bournemouth last weekend where they surrendered a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3.
This weekend they face a West Ham United side in very poor form who have not recorded a win in their last six games in all competitions and currently find themselves a point above the relegation zone.
Rush told liverpoolfc.com: “They could be dangerous because of that. They’ll be thinking ‘if we can go to Liverpool and get a result…’. They’ve previously played well at Anfield, so we have to be careful.”
West Ham managed to record their first win since the 1960s at Anfield last season in a 3-0 victory and are unbeaten across four matches against the Reds, so they have some reasons to be confident even if their recent form suggests otherwise.
Rush has emphasised Liverpool’s need to regroup after the defeat at Dean Court as they look keep touch with leaders Chelsea, who could be seven points ahead of the Reds by the time the game gets underway at Anfield.
The former Liverpool striker added: “Now it’s about regrouping as a squad – not as a team, but as a squad – and saying ‘if we want to be successful, then we have to learn from our mistakes and put them right against West Ham.”
A measure of a side is how they bounce back from their disappointments. In some ways, it could be the worst time for West Ham to come up against Liverpool.
