Everton, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Aston Villa all feature.
We usually do five heroes after every round of Premier League fixtures but given what happened in this week’s midweek Premier League fixtures it will seem harsh to leave one or two out.
There were some great individual performances and some big winning goals in an actioned packed week which will have seen one man in particular feeling pretty glum looking at the results with an old friend coming back to haunt him.
Here is a look at six of this week’s heroes.
Bryan Oviedo
He was probably the most unlikely person to give Everton their first win at Old Trafford since 1992, but Oviedo was in the right place to tuck home Romelu Lukaku’s miscued cross/shot to give Everton a massive win and heap misery on their former boss David Moyes at Manchester United.
Marouane Chamakh
With Tony Pulis’ first home game in charge of Crystal Palace against a West Ham side that is still within their sights, a win was a must for the Eagles and Chamakh came up with the goods just before half time to head home Barry Bannan’s cross.
Luis Suarez
He put on one of the most incredible displays even by his standards as the Uruguayan was at his very best. Four goals scored, three of them would be in contention for an average Goal of the Month competition – and Suarez managed to set up Liverpool’s fifth and final goal for Raheem Sterling as he continues to give Norwich City nightmares.
Lewis Holtby
Tottenham needed a win to try and gather some momentum and for their manager Andre Villas-Boas. Holtby provided the decisive blow in Spurs’ trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham, with a wonderful strike from just outside the area to prevent them from losing further ground on the leaders.
Fabian Delph
It was a gutsy performance from Aston Villa as they were forced to score three times to beat Southampton, who have had a fairly impressive start to the season. Having taken the lead on two occasions and been pegged back twice, Fabian Delph unleashed a magnificent strike ten minutes from time to give Villa all three points.
Eden Hazard
In the words of Sunderland manager Gus Poyet ‘Hazard was outstanding.’ In what was a thrilling game at the Stadium of Light which yielded seven goals, Hazard was involved three of Chelsea’s four goals, scoring two of them in a very impressive display that allows the Blues to keep up the pressure on Arsenal at the top.
