Both players left Newcastle United this summer for big fees.

Moussa Sissoko was congratulated on his move to Tottenham from Newcastle by a former teammate of his in Georginio Wijnaldum.
Wijnaldum also departed St James’ Park this summer as he moved on to Liverpool earlier in the transfer window, in a deal that is reported to be around £25 million, according to Sky Sports.

The Dutchman’s deal to leave Newcastle was done without the kind of drama that came with Sissoko’s, who had a choice between a move to White Hart Lane or joining Wijnaldum on Merseyside, but at Everton rather than Liverpool.
Sissoko joined Spurs in a £30 million deal, according to BBC Sport, and Wijnaldum sent his best wishes to the Frenchman on Twitter.
Sissoko will get the opportunity to play in the Champions League this season, and while Wijnaldum may be wishing him well, the reality is they could well be competitors for prizes and league position in the domestic season between now and May.
Tottenham will be looking to consolidate their place in the top four while Liverpool will be looking to break into it, and both sides would like to add a trophy to their honours list. There is a good chance that one side’s success could result in the other missing out.
On the financial front, Newcastle are probably very pleased at getting £55 million for two players who were part of the side that was relegated from the top flight last season.
