Everton, Liverpool, Swansea City, Tottenham and West Bromwich Albion feature

This weekend in the Premier League has seen sides relegated, the title race having a far clearer picture going into the final week and the race for the final Champions League spot coming to a conclusion.

There were some big performances from certain individuals at key stages this season but also some calamitous errors, so here are our five villains of the Premier League weekend:

Liverpool defence

At 3-0 up against Crystal Palace, Liverpool were still looking for more goals in order to close the goal difference gap between them and Manchester City in the battle for the title, but they managed to concede three goals in the closing stages which means that City are now firm favourites to become champions. There were some poor errors as the Reds’ deficiencies were horribly exposed.

Ashley Williams

It looked as if Swansea’s game with Southampton was heading for a draw until Williams managed to poke the ball in the direction of his own goal, and over his own goalkeeper, which allowed Rickie Lambert to score the winners for the Saints.

Younes Kaboul

Kaboul was found wanting at the back as Tottenham lost to West Ham United this weekend. Stewart Downing easily beat him before bearing down on goal, only for Kaboul to take him down, and receive his marching orders. Spurs then went on to lose the game 2-0, meaning the Hammers had done the double over their rivals this season.

Tim Howard

Some may regard it as harsh to put Howard down as a villain, but in at least two cases against Manchester City, you would’ve thought he should’ve done better. First of all getting beaten at his near post by Sergio Aguero, then seemingly struggling for Edin Dzeko’s header. Everton fans may have wanted more from their keeper as their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League ended.

Craig Dawson

Olivier Giroud easily beat the West Bromwich Albion man to the ball for the only goal of the game as Arsenal beat the Baggies. It was slack defending, and although it looks as if West Brom will beat the drop, such slackness will not please Pepe Mel.
