The out of favour forward scored a first half hat-trick as Everton’s Under-23s won 6-3 against Reading.

Oumar Niasse scored a hat-trick last night for Everton’s under-23s in their 6-3 win over Reading at Adams Park.
Niasse, who has fallen out of favour at Goodison Park – the extent of which was revealed in an interview with the Guardian last week – found the net three times in the first half within the space of 18 minutes as the Toffees came from two goals down to lead 3-2 at the interval.
Second-half goals from Kieran Dowell, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Liam Walsh all found the net before the home side grabbed a late consolation.

But much of the focus on Everton’s performance from their fans on Twitter was the display of their £13.5 million January signing, with some even suggesting that he should be given an opportunity to impress for the first-team in some capacity.
The 26-year-old has made just the seven appearances and has failed to impress, with his signing widely regarded as a flop, but his outing for the club’s second string may have persuaded fans he deserves another chance; whether Ronald Koeman is persuaded is a different matter.
