The Argentine is said to be one of the players the club wants to tie down to new deals.
Tottenham Hotspur star Erik Lamela has told the London Evening Standard that he would like to sign a new deal at the club.
Several Spurs stars have signed new contracts at the start of this season with Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen all putting pen to paper.
Lamela told the Standard: “I would like to [sign a new deal] because I am very happy here. I feel part of this team which is improving. I have a group of excellent team-mates and I feel very good around them.
“It would make me happy to play for more years in this shirt. Will I be the next to sign? Let’s hope so. At the moment I am thinking only of playing and about Saturday’s game against Leicester.”
The Argentine is said to be on the list of players that chairman Daniel Levy wants to tie down to new deals, along with Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane.
Lamela has grown in stature since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2013 from Roma, and has become a key part of the side in the final third. His technique, vision and all-round ability gives the side that something extra.
Since he arrived at the club, he has scored 19 goals from 121 games but he has shown he has the ability to find the net. If there was one criticism of him it would probably be his scoring rate but the 24-year-old’s best years are ahead of him, meaning there should be plenty of improvement to come.
It is very encouraging news for the club that he wants to stay, as Tottenham are intent on maintaining the core of a very good side.
