Eden Hazard finds ‘easier’ chances more difficult – room for improvement?

Hazard can score some of the more eye-catching goals in the Premier League, but has been guilty on occasions of letting big chances pass him by.

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has admitted he finds it a little more difficult scoring goals in one-on-one situations.

Hazard has been in sparkling form for Chelsea this season, which has helped them to set the pace in the Premier League title race this season, having dropped just the four points throughout the campaign.

But whilst the Belgian has shown he is capable of scoring some jaw dropping goals, he admits there is something of a difficulty for him when he’s bearing down on goal with just the keeper to beat.

He told the Chelsea website: “Sometimes I can score a beautiful goal but then the easier chance, one against one, is more difficult because I’ve produced a lot of movement and then by the time I have to shoot I’m a little tired, which can affect your concentration, but I enjoy creating chances for myself.”

A case in point will perhaps be when Chelsea faced Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier on in the season, when Hazard managed to create the opening, only to be thwarted by David De Gea in the United goal after beating the back line.

Some will say De Gea should be applauded for the save, but if you’re the attacker in that case, you are likely to be very disappointed not to score.

Hazard certainly gets himself into plenty of goalscoring positions, it seems as though striker Diego Costa gets himself into more. But the Belgian could arguably be more clinical in front of goal having missed the most opportunities out of all of the players in the Chelsea side, and with a clear cut chance conversion rate of one in three.

Chelsea are still a menacing side going forward, and though Hazard is one of their stars they may feel he can improve. The very thought at him getting even better is a frightening prospect for the rest of the league, and one that will please Jose Mourinho and the club’s fans.
