Dejan Lovren says Liverpool’are in the race and talked about the kinds of games Liverpool need to win
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has admitted there is growing confidence the side can mount a title challenge this season, the Liverpool Echo reports.
The Reds are currently in third place but are level on points with Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the Premier League after 10 games.
Liverpool have managed to win seven of those 10 games and have scored the joint highest amount of goals in the division so far.

Lovren, who found the net after making a mistake in the 4-2 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park this weekend, said that games like the one against Palace – who have proved to be tricky opponents for the Reds over the years – are the kind of games they need to win.
The defender is quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “We are in the race. It is great to be there. We need to keep on working hard.
“If you want to be in the top four at the end of the season or to be the champion, you need to win the smaller games like Saturday and even the next game against Watford.
“Then we will see against the big teams. But I think we have shown this year that we can play against the big teams.”We are not scared. I think the biggest opponent for us is us.”

The Reds will look to keep up the momentum when the Hornets visit Anfield on Sunday. There is also the added incentive that Liverpool will steal a march on at least one of the sides around them if they make it three consecutive league wins – with Arsenal taking on Tottenham Hotsur at the Emirates Stadium before the Reds kick off.
When two rivals play each other, it can add the pressure a little to take maximum points.
It will be a game Liverpool are expected to win, but they should not take Watford lightly as they currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League and have made a very solid start to the season.
It has been an impressive start from Liverpool and they know there are things they need to improve and work on over the course of the season as the early running suggests it could be a tight race for the title.
