Moyes answered questions about the type of player he would like at Sunderland as he was officially unveiled as their new manager.
New Sunderland manager David Moyes seems to have identified the kind of players he wants to bring into the club ahead of his first season in charge.
The Scot seems to want players who know the division and can of course improve the squad as he looks to lead Sunderland to a worry-free season following several battles against relegation in recent years.
Moyes is quoted in the Chronicle saying: “We want to get it right, so it’s important that we get people who know the Premier League and how it works.
“We do have to get players for the team and also for the squad who we think have got a good chance of progressing in the future and becoming good players.”
It seems clear that he wants to improve the starting XI judging on these words, but the profile of the player is pretty clear. Moyes seems intent on getting players that will settle into things pretty quickly as he looks to hit the ground running himself at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats have a pretty difficult start to the season to contend with when they visit Manchester City before a derby match against Middlesbrough. Games against Southampton, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur follow in what could be a tricky period for the new boss on Wearside.
It seems that younger players are firmly on the agenda for Moyes as he talks about players progressing. He will hope some players with decent potential can develop and become more important parts of the side for several years to come.
