Benteke netted inside seven seconds as he scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 win over Gibraltar.

Christian Benteke wrote himself into the record books thanks to his display in Belgium’s 6-0 win over Gibraltar in their World Cup qualification match this week.
The Crystal Palace striker netted the fastest goal in a competitive international game to open the scoring on his way to grabbing a hat-trick for his country. It may not have been the sternest of opposition but it is a record to proudly hold nonetheless.

It only took seven seconds for him to find the net in Faro as Belgium remain top of Group H, having scored 13 goals without reply over their three games so far.
It is promising for Palace fans to see their striker to continue to show signs of good form following on from his goal-scoring display against Everton prior to the break, and they will hope to see him find the net again when they come up against West Ham United at Selhurst Park this weekend.
His league form has seen him score three goals in five games so far this season; an excellent strike rate if he can keep it going for the duration of the campaign.

Here is a selection of what a few Palace fans had to say about Benteke’s performance, and as you can imagine they were pretty happy with it!
