Iwobi has made 11 appearances for Arsenal so far this season, but Wenger wants to see him find the net.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he would like to see Alex Iwobi to start finding the net for his side, the London Evening Standard reports.
Iwobi has had an impressive start to the season for the Gunners although he is yet to find the net so far this season. Despite that he has caught the eye playing out wide and in a more central role in the EFL Cup win over Reading.
It seems that Wenger is hoping for the 20-year-old to produce a little more, and is quoted in the Evening Standard, saying: “You see, he is not a typical winger and I think he can play in that role. He turns the game forward; he passes the ball through the lines very well. He has a final ball in him.
“What you want from him now is the finishing, you know. That’s still a little part that is missing in his game. I think he is too nervous at the moment when he has the possibility to finish.”
It can be a case of as soon as Iwobi finds the net for the first time then the goals will start to flow. It should not be forgotten that is only a 20-year-old and there are going to be areas of his game that are going to need some work.
It is good for the player to know that he has areas of his game to work on. Some may think it is something that can be worked on in training but the pressure is always greater in a match environment.
There is little doubt about the belief Wenger has in Iwobi, otherwise he simply would not have featured so much by this stage of the season.
