Arsenal, Chelsea, Cardiff City’s owner, Swansea City and Sunderland feature.
As we head into the Christmas period, we have a look at the scrooges, though who may have left a sour taste in the mouths of some with their performances and actions this weekend. So here is a look at our five villains from the Premier League weekend.
Vincent Tan
Not just for this weekend, but for his treatment of Malky Mackay by demanding his resignation or the Scot would face the sack. So far Mackay is staying at the club, and Cardiff City fans are calling for the Malaysian owners to leave.
Arsenal and Chelsea
What was hyped up as a ‘blockbuster’ and a ‘Christmas cracker’ and other such nonsensical descriptions for a football match pre-kick off. It failed to deliver, and finished 0-0. Arsenal perhaps should have gone for the jugular a lot more given they had the incentive to be top of the tree at Christmas, whilst Mourinho’s men resorted to being solid, and hanging/drawing/quartering the game.
Gerhard Tremmel
Take nothing away from the strikes of Seamus Coleman and Ross Barkley, but Tremmel will probably look back at them and think he should have done better in the Swansea goal. Getting beaten from your near post from over 20 yards in Coleman’s goal is not going to make the keeper feel great, whilst Barkley’s was probably unstoppable, even if it was towards the middle of the goal.
Ki Sung-Yeung
It may be a little harsh as he has been one of Sunderland’s better players this season but after receiving the ball 25 yards from goal with Norwich City defenders frantically backtracking to the goal line to prevent him from giving the Black Cats a vital lead. Instead he missed the target, when he probably should have aimed for the target, that way he couldn’t really be criticised. A missed opportunity that could prove crucial at the end of the season.
