West Ham United managed to pick up a point in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna has told the club’s official website that he feels the point gained by the side against Manchester United at Old Trafford was crucial and praised the concentration of the team in the 1-1 draw.
The Hammers took an early lead after Diafra Sakho headed home Dimitri Payet’s free-kick before Zlatan Ibrahimovic levelled midway through the first half.
Darren Randolph made a string of fine saves in goal, while the defence did their part with several last ditch blocks and tackles, while at the other hand West Ham had one or two opportunities to retake the lead.

But it is a positive point for the side, with Ogbonna telling whufc.com: “I think it is a really crucial point for us. We had a really good game and a good performance and it was so important for us because we were so disappointed about the last match.
“It was great to put a good performance in. We were so concentrated at the back and maybe this is why this game is a great moment.
“In the table, we are not great at the moment but we have to take it step-by-step and focus each time for every game.”
It provides a confidence boost for the side during a very tricky run of fixtures.
They were unfortunate to leave White Hart Lane after leading twice against Tottenham Hotspur a week earlier while they face a rematch with Jose Mourinho’s side in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

The tricky run of fixtures continues when West Ham face Arsenal on Saturday evening before a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool.
The point against United is a boost even if the Hammers’ position in the Premier League table remains precarious. They may have moved up to 16th place but they are still just a point clear of the relegation zone. However they have shown in recent games that they can compete with good sides in the league.
A point at Old Trafford certainly gives Slaven Bilic’s side a reference point and something to kick on from.
There was certainly enough on show in the performance in terms of desire and quality that West Ham can keep themselves out of trouble towards the end of the campaign.
