Chelsea target Abdennour as potential Luiz alternative

Chelsea will target Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour if they can’t re-sign David Luiz from PSG, according to the Daily Mirror.

PSG have already rejected a £32 million offer from Chelsea given they are reluctant to let the defender go so late in the window, but Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is said to be desperate to sign another central defender, and is targeting Abdennour on loan.

Sakho to stay at Liverpool

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho looks set to stay at Anfield until at least January, according to a report from L’Equipe.

Several reports, including one from the Liverpool Echo over the past few days, have suggested that manager Jurgen Klopp told the Frenchman to go on loan in order to prove his fitness and professionalism. Sakho believes he can win the Reds boss round.

Sakho has turned down numerous approaches for a loan spell from several clubs including Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion.

If he doesn’t find a club before the transfer deadline, he runs the risk of staying on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

The Villans are waiting to see if West Ham return with another before the transfer deadline passes. If not, then Aston Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo is set to include the former Manchester City defender in his plans.
