Owner claims Arsenal have now offered £6.4m for player being likened to Mbappe

Arsenal have been linked with FCSB ace Ianis Stoica – and their owner Gigi Becali claims an offer from the Gunners is now on the table.

FCSB may not found familiar to many, but that’s because of a separation issue involving Steaua Bucharest.

Arsenal fans may not want to read all about that fiasco, but they will be very interested in Stoica.

Stoica, 18, is emerging as the next big hope of Romanian football having even been branded the ‘Romanian Mbappe’.

Stoica has excelled this season, bagging four goals and two assists in 12 league outings for FCSB.

Last week, Playsport in Romania claimed that Arsenal were trying to sign Stoica.

FCSB owner Gigi Becali has now told AS in Romania that he has an offer of €7.5million (£6.4million).

When asked whether that offer had come from Arsenal, Becali indicated that it had.

On the one hand, it seems understandable. Arsenal should be pursuing the world’s top young players and have operated in Romania before by signing Vlad Dragomir and Catalin Cirjan.

You have to factor in that Becali is something akin to Romania’s Silvio Berlusconi – not everything he says is 100% on the money.

Claiming that Arsenal want to sign Stoica adds a certain prestige to both FCSB and Stoica himself.

Only time will tell whether this alleged Arsenal bid is actually true, but Stoica is a talent to keep tabs on regardless.
