Brendan Rodgers is reportedly leaving Celtic for Leicester City.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seen during the Ladbrokes Premiership match between Celtic and Motherwell at Celtic Park on February 24, 2019 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Ian Wright suggested on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5 live on Monday evening (7:55pm, February 25, 2019) that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers probably thinks that Leicester City is a step-up for him.

Wright made the comments while discussing the future of Rodgers on the show with former Celtic striker Chris Sutton among others.

According to The Scottish Sun, former Liverpool manager Rodgers is in talks with Leicester over becoming their new boss.

It has been reported that Celtic chiefs have given Rodgers permission to speak to the Foxes, and that the Premier League club have agreed to pay a £6 million compensation fee.

Former Arsenal and Celtic striker Wright has suggested that Rodgers is reportedly leaving for Leicester because he thinks that the Foxes in the Premier League are a step-up from the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership.

Sutton said about Rodgers on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5 live on Monday evening (7:55pm, February 25, 2019): “I would say don’t downgrade yourself from Celtic.

“You get European football at Celtic, you won’t at Leicester. I don’t want to see him leave Celtic, but I think it will happen.”

Wright responded: “You just said he is downgrading, but he is leaving Celtic to go to Leicester, not Liverpool.

“I know how great Celtic are because I have been up there, and it is a great club, but where Celtic are, where Leicester are, if he is downgrading, he doesn’t leave. So he is leaving for money?

“I think in Brendan Rodgers’s eyes, he probably thinks it’s a step-up, with all due respect to Celtic.”

Celtic are eight points clear of second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment.
