Ian Wright has worryingly told Premier League Productions that Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka is ‘under a lot of pressure’ to produce the goods for his team defensively and offensively.

Arsenal suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Wolves on Sunday evening – their third straight home loss – with their teenage academy product starting the encounter.

It was another questionable performance from Mikel Arteta’s side, who seem to lack ideas, speed and quality within their game.

But Wright worryingly shared his thoughts on Saka and how there is seemingly too much being asked of him despite his young age.

“Well, we are talking about a youngster who has a lot of onus to create for Arsenal and defend with him getting into the England squad as well,” said Wright.

“There seems to be a lot more responsibility on him and what he’s supposed to know at this stage of his career.

“But I think he is under a lot of pressure. I think he has dealt with it well up to this point. But we are seeing certain instances that he has still got a lot to learn. We know what he’s capable of doing going forward and we will probably see that as the time goes by.

“But he’s still learning his trade and he’s learning his trade in a team that seems very low on confidence. They are in transition and he is one of the focal points in terms of creativity. I think it’s a lot for him to carry, at the minute.”

During Arsenal’s pretty abject start to the season, it could be argued that someone like Saka has been their bright spark even though he has hit a bad patch recently.

But that in itself is worrying for a team with such experienced players within the squad.

There will be some fans who will feel that they are getting Unai Emery vibes under Arteta now because if he doesn’t turn results around during these coming weeks then this could become messy.
