Liverpool have shipped more goals than any other side in the Premier League’s top eight.

Ian Wright has told The Sun that Liverpool pair Lucas and James Milner worry him in defence.

Liverpool’s backline has faced serious scrutiny this week, after they lost 4-3 to Bournemouth in their last outing.

The Reds were 3-1 up in the contest, but Bournemouth scored three goals in the final 20 minutes to snatch the three points.

Liverpool are now four points behind league leaders Chelsea, and Wright believes that Jurgen Klopp’s side’s leaky defence is becoming a major problem.

“Liverpool have to do something because having Lucas as your main back-up if something happens to one of your first-choice central defenders is asking for trouble,” the former Arsenal striker said.

“He’s a holding midfielder, not a defender. He can probably do a stint in a real emergency but he was one of the guys found out at Bournemouth.

“Milner at left-back is another one that worries me. Yes, he offers Liverpool a lot going forward but he’s not a natural defender.”

Liverpool have scored more goals than any other Premier League side so far this season, but they have been undone by their fragile defence.

The Reds have conceded 18 goals in their first 14 matches, which is a greater total than any other side in the top eight.

Liverpool are next in action at the weekend, when they take on West Ham United at Anfield.
