Ian Wright has urged Daniel Levy, the Tottenham Hotspur chairman, to back Mauricio Pochettino in the summer transfer window.

And, writing in his latest Sun column, Wright, the former Arsenal striker, suggested that a significant change of approach is required to ensure that the Argentine remains at White Hart Lane, amid reports of interest elsewhere.
Discussing the type of player Tottenham should be targeting, the 54-year-old said: “He needs to know how far his chairman is prepared to go.
“Take Gareth Bale, for example, who could well be available this summer.
“If he is, Spurs HAVE to be in the conversation, whether they end up getting him or not.
“That’s the kind of money they need to be talking.
“Right now Poch is saying, ‘We’re looking over the ledge but we need to crawl along. It will be dangerous but that’s what we must do to get where we want’.”
Bale spent six seasons at Tottenham, for whom he scored 56 goals in 203 games before being sold to Real Madrid for a then world record fee in 2013.
Despite being on course to win his fourth Champions League trophy this season, it has not always been plain-sailing for Bale at the Bernabeu.
However, the 28-year-old’s fortunes seem to have improved this campaign, which could convince Real to keep hold of him this summer.
