Ian Wright and Roy Keane have been discussing golf during their latest appearance on The Overlap.

The former Arsenal striker opened up about how much time he spends on the course these days.

Wright also mentioned his local club and how his game has changed in recent years.

Keane, meanwhile, offered a typically honest take on the sport that had everyone laughing.

Ian Wright on his golf handicap and home course

Ian Wright said he is playing a lot of golf these days and is proud of how far he has come.

“I’m a golfer. I’m off a seven [handicap]. I’m playing a lot. Since I did my knee [replacement], especially, it’s gotten a lot better,” he explained during the Stick to Football podcast.

He also gave a shoutout to his home course in Middlesex. “My golf club is Ashford Manor in Middlesex. My mate Tony runs it,” he added.

The club has a long history and is known for its friendly environment and tight-knit membership.

A seven handicap shows Wright is a skilled amateur golfer. He said his game has improved since his knee operation, which has allowed him to play more often.

Roy Keane claims golf looks easy

Roy Keane responded with his trademark humour. Speaking to Wright, he said: “I don’t play golf, but it looks easy, I have to say. Just get it in the hole.

“You know what I don’t get with golfers? I watch the golfers, the best players in the world… the hole is there (a few feet away), and I’m here, and you get it in the hole, and everyone applauds it.

“Just put it in the hole. I’m 100 percent serious. It’s like when you get a tap-in at Yeovil.”

Keane’s comment wound up Wright, who left the studio, and summed up his no-nonsense attitude.

Meanwhile, Wright’s response showed how much respect he has for the challenge of golf, as someone who plays regularly.
