Ian Wright has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane has some similar attributes to Premier League legend Frank Lampard.
Kane has made a sensational start to the season, scoring 15 goals in just 13 games for club and country in total and nine in his last five in all competitions.
The Spurs talisman’s most recent run of form has arguably led to the most convincing arguments that Kane could go on and break the all-time goalscoring records in the Premier League and for England, currently held by Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney respectively.
And Wright has put himself amongst those lauding the Tottenham star, suggesting that his determination to get better puts him alongside one of the Premier League’s greatest ever player.
“What impresses me are his attitude, commitment and work ethic — he reminds me of Frank Lampard, who was as good as I have seen in that respect,” he told The Sun.
“You never read anything about Harry other than football-related things.
“He is the perfect role model for everyone, from team-mates to youngsters — and he is still just 24.”
What made Lampard so special for club and country was the way that he seemed to be able to make a devastating impact on a regular basis regardless of his age.
And while Kane still has a long way to go before he proves that he has the longevity to put himself in the same category as a Lampard or Shearer, the fact that he has scored over 100 goals for Tottenham in just over three seasons hints that he has the attributes to become a player that his side can rely on for as long a spell as Lampard was relied upon during his illustrious career.
