Tottenham Hotspur picked up a 1-1 draw away at Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

Pundit Ian Wright has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that Tottenham Hotspur must match the ambition of manager Mauricio Pochettino – and called upon chairman Daniel Levy to ‘step into line’.
Spurs travelled to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and whilst few gave them a fighting chance of getting a result at the Santiago Bernabeu, they came away with a 1-1 draw.
Harry Kane deflected flick – which will go down as a Raphael Varane own goal – gave Spurs a shock first-half lead, before Cristiano Ronald equalised from the penalty spot after Serge Aurier had fouled Toni Kroos.

Whilst Spurs could have won the game with late chances for Kane and Christian Eriksen, they will ultimately be happy with a point, as they went toe to toe with one of the world’s finest teams in their own back yard.
Pochettino demonstrated the club’s remarkable progress under his tutelage by not looking out of place against a team who have won three of the last four Champions League finals, and this feels like a huge night for Spurs.
Having now proven that they can challenge with the world’s best, it’s imperative that Tottenham continue to kick on, on and off the field, in order to challenge with the likes of Real Madrid for trophies in the future.

Pochettino is certainly doing his bit, but pundit Ian Wright has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that he feels that there is one man at Tottenham who needs to ‘step into line’ – Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
Levy has often been criticised for his frugal ways, but Wright believes that the Spurs chairman is the only thing that could stop Tottenham from progressing even further, as he must back manager Pochettino and match his ambitions moving forward.
“The thing with Pochettino is that they’ve got to be as ambitious as he is,” said Wright. “As much as he’d like to stay at Tottenham – and they’ve got a lot of stuff going on, in respect of the stadium and they’re moving to the next level, you’d like to think, and I think the way they played tonight shows that they’re not going to be out of place going to that level – it’s only Daniel Levy who has to step into line, in respect of investing in the squad and giving the manager what he wants. That’s the only thing that’s going to stop Tottenham now, if it doesn’t come from upstairs, if they don’t back that team,” he added.
