Ian Wright was impressed with Samir Nasri’s performance for West Ham United against Arsenal at the weekend.

Ian Wright suggested on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5 live (7:56pm, Monday, January 14, 2019) that Samir Nasri could replace Marko Arnautovic in the West Ham United team.

Former Arsenal and West Ham striker Wright was impressed with the performance of Nasri against the Gunners in the Premier League at the weekend.

Against Arsenal on Saturday afternoon, the 31-year-old French attacking midfielder played 71 minutes, provided the assist for Declan Rice’s goal, took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 84.4%, and played three key passes, according to WhoScored.

According to The Mirror, Arnautovic, who can operate as a striker or as a winger, wants to leave West Ham for Chinese Super League club Shanghai SiPG in the January transfer window.

Wright believes that Nasri can fill the void for a while if the Austria international does leave the Hammers in the January transfer window, suggesting a partnership with Mexico international striker Javier Hernandez – who has made seven starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Hammers so far this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Wright said on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5 live (7:56pm, Monday January 14, 2019) while discussing how West Ham can replace Arnautovic: “I think Nasri could be a real find.

“The way he played the other way, I know it’s only one game, the way he plays in that number 10 role in and around there, and you have got someone like Chicharito who scores all his goals in the box, if they can start getting themselves in and around the area, he could probably fit a void for a while.”
