Ian Wright has told Wrighty’s House Podcast that Roy Keane was ‘hammering’ him during and after Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.

The former striker shared that the outspoken Keane sent him message after message about Arsenal’s humiliating defeat and was even texting him as he was going on air for Match of the Day.

It was a night to forget for Mikel Arteta’s side, who were blown away by an Aston Villa team who outclassed them in every area of the pitch.

On one hand, Arsenal fans will hate Keane giving to Wright about Arsenal, but on the other, they will love the banter between the two.

“You know who else has been hammering me,” said Wright. “You know when you are getting texts from people while you are watching the game but when the game finished and Match of the Day is about to start.

“You know who was still hammering me? Roy Keane! Honestly, all the way up until we are ready to start MOTD.

“When I woke up yesterday, he left me so much stuff and I couldn’t really answer. I just woke up on Monday morning and just sent him a torrent of abuse.”

Keane is pretty forthright in his opinions and it takes a lot to please the Manchester United legend, so performances such as the one on Sunday aren’t exactly going to result in a positive reaction from the former midfielder.

If Arsenal put in performances like the one they put up against Villa then they will be heading down a road they thought they weren’t going down again.

The problem with that performance, especially the defending, was that it reminded the Arsenal faithful of those past performances against the likes of Bayern Munich and those heavy defeats against the so-called big-six.
