Ian Wright has said on Twitter that Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips was “phenomenal” for England against Croatia today.
The Arsenal legend was impressed by the display produced by Phillips during England’s 1-0 win against Croatia at Wembley Stadium today.
The Leeds midfielder provided the assist for Raheem Sterling’s goal in the 57th minute.
It was a wonderful ball from the 25-year-old, who was also a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park for the Three Lions.
Wright was impressed by Phillips’s performance and has sent him a message on Twitter.
Yannick Bolasie and Noel Whelan were also impressed by the display from Phillips.
Phillips, or the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’ as he is affectionally known among the Leeds fans, was superb for England.
The 25-year-old held his own in the middle of the park, drove the team forward when he had the chance, and linked up well with his team-mates.
The Leeds star took one shot which was on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 93.9%, took 44 touches, attempted two dribbles, and made one tackle and one interception.
