Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, Ian Wright has lavished praise upon Tottenham star Heung-min Son, claiming that the South Korean is still underappreciated for what he does.

Wright’s point is that Harry Kane is getting too much attention for the assists he’s giving Son when the spotlight should be more on the former Bayer Leverkusen man.

The ex-Arsenal striker says that the praise being given to Kane for again assisting Son against the Gunners was a bit wide of the mark, as he believes Son’s 30-yard effort was more of a solo strike.

Son, for me, again, has to get flowers, he doesn’t get the credit,” Wright said.

The ex-Gunners striker then went on to make his point about the goal against Arsenal.

“Even his goal (against Arsenal), Harry Kane’s done what he’s done, he’s dropped off and we’re not talking about an incredible side-splitting David Silva, Pogba at his best, De Bruyne pass, but he dropped off and did what he does at the moment.

“He played it to Son who then had to run with it and he’s 30 yards out and he’s curled it in.

“This goal is a magnificent goal, but what they’ve done is linked the Kane and Son thing again, but Kane was in his own half when he gave it to him, he’s had to do some unbelievable work to score, to curl it in from 30 yards, that is magnificent. He stands alone.”

We can see exactly where Wright is coming from here.

So much was made of Kane assisting Son for the opener at the weekend, but if we’re being honest, the assist wasn’t anything remarkable.

As Wright says, the Tottenham ace had to run a long way before striking a curling effort from 30 yards, but for some reason, the stats surrounding Kane’s assists were still making headlines.

Son’s goal against Arsenal was a genuine Goal of the Season contender, but Kane seems to be getting an even-share of the credit.

Wright is spot on, Son is not getting the credit he deserves.
